I love a beautiful floral arrangement any time of the year! There is just something about adding fresh flowers and greenery to your home! Premade floral arrangements can get pricey and sometimes its just more fun to create your own. It can get overwhelming standing in the floral department looking at all the choices to add to your arrangement. Today, I am sharing my go to greeneries and a few tips on creating an arrangement like the pros do!
EUCALYPTUS – Not only is eucalyptus beautiful in any type of arrangement, but it works well on its own. There are many varieties of eucalyptus and you can’t go wrong with any as a filler in your arrangement. I love filling a vase with silver dollar or seeded eucalyptus to use as a stand alone centerpiece. They can last for weeks too simply by changing out the water every few days. Eucalyptus pair well with most flowers and I love using them in an all white arrangements for a subtle pop of greenery!
MYRTLE – Myrtle is very popular in arrangements and works well on its own or paired with another type of greenery. The branches stand up on its own and I love using it to fill out any floral arrangement. It’s a pretty, lush green in color and adds a great “pop” to any arrangement.
FERN – Fern is a common greenery used in most premade floral arrangemnt. Since the leaves are pretty wide, it’s a great filler for arrangements and a great choice if you need to add some body to your arrangement since it takes up space. I don’t use fern often but it can last up to 21 days in a vase!
MAGNOLIA – Magnolia is my go to for fall and winter arrangements. I honestly love just placing some branches on their own in vase for an instant arrangements. The branches are so pretty in fall arrangements for a beautiful pop of color when they turn a golden-brown. If you are lucky enough to have a magnolia tree in your backyard, grab some shears and cut a few branches off for an instant arrangement anytime of the year!
LEMON LEAF – I love using lemon leaf in an arrangement. The leaves are nice and full and resemble lemons so they are a great choice if you need to add some fullness and body to your arrangement. They also last a long time in a vase and add a subtle pop to your floral arrangement.
EXTRA TIPS: Check out my full blog post here, How to Arrange Flowers Like a Pro, for ALL the tips on creating an ultimate arrangement. I promise it’s easier than you think! But if you are standing in the floral department and wondering what to grab, here are my go tos…
Grab at least 2-3 types of greenery. I always go for eucalyptus but any of the ones I mentioned above will work for an arrangement. Pros say to pick at least 3-4 different types of flowers for the ultimate arrangement. Sometimes I do if I am hosting a party, but often times I grab one flower, usually white, and then mix in some greenery with it for a simplistic arrangement. Again, it’s up to you but this is usually my go to, everyday floral arrangement. Lastly, filler. Again, I don’t usually worry about the smaller filler, like stock BUT will, again, add if I am creating a larger arrangement for a party.
I hope these tips help in creating your own beautiful floral arrangement for your home. Have fun with it and then stand back and say “WOW”!
