Looking for a simple centerpiece for your fall table? I combined two of my faves, a white pumpkin and flowers and created a simple, neutral centerpiece that is not only easy to make but will last throughout the fall season!
STEP ONE: Gather your supplies! You will need a pumpkin of your choice. I am using a 6″ pumpkin I picked up from a local farm stand. You can certainly go larger too. You will also need a piece of circular floral foam, scissors and your choice of flowers and greenery. For this centerpiece, I used roses, eucalyptus, baby’s breath and filler.
STEP TWO: First, you must soak your floral foam in a large tub of water or sink for at least two minutes or until the foam floats to the top of the tub. This will ensure that the foam is completely saturated and your stems will stay fresh and hydrated. Next, just stick the piece of floral foam right on top of your pumpkin stem. I trimmed my stem a bit so it wasn’t sticking out! I’ve seen some DIY’s where the top of the pumpkin is cut out and the foam is stuck inside. You can certainly do that BUT your pumpkin will rot quickly and will not last long! This way is much simpler, no pumpkin mess AND your pumpkin will last the season!
STEP THREE: Next, trim your flowers at an angle and place directly in the foam. For this arrangement, I do flowers first and then the greenery and filler. Basically, opposite of creating a floral arrangement. I place my white roses as evenly as possible in the foam, covering all the sides.
STEP FOUR: Now you will add your filler such as stalk. I placed mine around the roses. Then you will add your baby’s breath.
STEP FIVE: Lastly, you will add your eucalyptus. Because this greenery drapes more, I like to fill it in on the sides and underneath ensuring it covers any of the floral foam.
STEP SIX: Step back and admire your work! I placed mine finished centerpiece in the middle of my dough bowl and used baby boos on either side. You can also display this alone on a table or even your kitchen counter! Bring it as a hostess gift to a fall party or Thanksgiving! It truly is a beautiful way to add some “fall” to your home.
A FEW MORE TIPS: Make sure you check the floral foam every other day. If it seems to dry out, carefully and slowly add some water to it. Also, once the flowers do die, {I only wish they lived forever} you can easily recreate this centerpiece again with a new piece of floral foam and some fresh flowers. Have fun with it, change the flowers and colors up throughout the season! And most importantly, enjoy your fall pretty that you designed and created!
