After three closet consultations from three different companies, we finally decided to just go for it and build the closet of our dreams ourselves. Handy hubby just couldn’t justify the cost for what we were actually getting. This week, in a series of blog posts, I will be sharing the before, in progress and the after of our DIY Master Closet!
When we were building, we had to prioritize and custom closets just weren’t at the top of our list. It was finally time to ditch the builder grade rods and shelves and get started on designing and building a closet that will maximize space and keep things organized.
In today’s blog post, I will be sharing the “before” photos of our closet. The closet has an odd shape as it is not a perfect square plus we are dealing with an off centered window.
THE PLAN: Floor to ceiling custom built ins with room for hanging clothes and lots of shelving for folded clothes, sweaters and shoes plus two set of drawers. The cabinets will be finished at the top with crown moulding and there will be dedicated his and her sides of the closets with a shared section of floor to ceiling shelving.
Be sure to check the blog later this week as I share in progress pics and the after of our DIY Master Closet!
