The closet in our mudroom space was becoming a hodge pode of a mess! It stored all our winter coats and accessories, coolers, picnic blankets and then all the kids sports equipment such as lacrosse sticks, soccer balls, cleats and more! There were often times we were digging through the basket trying to find a shoe or ball. In the end, we needed a more organized space where we could actually find things! Here is a before picture of the space:
The first thing we did was remove all the wire shelving and touchup painted. We decided to raise the coats and installed a new shelf and rod. By raising the coats we were able to get more space below for all the kids sports equipment.
Next, we installed hooks for the kids sports bags. It got them out of the basket, off the floor and they can easily grab them before a game or practice and just as easily store them once we got home.
I bought a basket for all the lacrosse sticks, balls and other sports equipment. It keeps them all organized and again, it’s an easy grab and go for practices or when they want to throw the ball around outside.
Lastly, I bought a cube organizer and used those to organize the kids cleats and other sports equipment. The kids have a much easier time finding their cleats, mouthguards and other smaller equipment.
This closet is not only organized now but looks pretty too! With a few tweaks we were able to create a organized space that was previously overtaken by sports equipment.
