I don’t think I can say enough how much fun a trip up to the Country Living Fair is! This was my third year going and it never disappoints. This year I headed up with my sweet friend Rebecca of Hello Central Avenue. Not only does she live 5 minutes down the road but we share so much in common as we are both bloggers always looking for a day of fun! I’m not going to lie, it was an early wake up call for us both (6am!) as we had to hit the road by 7am to make it up to Rhinebeck but the 3 hour drive flew by and we made it to Rhinebeck a little after the gates opened.
We honestly could not have asked for a more beautiful day weather wise! It was sunny and not too hot. The weather was perfect! What I love most about the Country Living Fair is the atmosphere and scene that is created. Photo drops and photo booths, live bluegrass music, workshops and presentations all day and the flag buntings strung across the barns add so much charm. It is not your typical flea market at all! And the people! Everyone is nice, big smiles on their faces, from the shoppers to the vendors, I truly love going for all the connections that are made! This year not only were we able to connect and meet some blogger friends, we also met Kim Leggett of City Farmhouse, Annie Sloan who I call the “queen of chalk paint” AND one of the executive editors of Country Living magazine! WOW!
Now don’t expect all country farmhouse style booths and decor! They truly have a bit of everything and a lot of the booths were very “on trend” in terms of decor. I spied everything from natural wood toned decor to boho inspired prints and pillows to coastal inspired pieces perfect for the summer! They have something for everyone! I even picked up the prettiest layering necklace from one of the booths! And a bottle of local distilled whiskey for Aaron!
Rebecca and I laughed throughout the day at how some pieces reminded us of Serena & Lily decor or were very Studio McGee! We actually picked a few pieces that could honestly be carried in their shop! I came home with a gorgeous wood toned planter that I swear I have seen similar on their site, a beautiful wood trivet uniquely stamped in India that I saw for double on an interior decorator’s Instagram stories {she was shopping at a flea market in California}, a really cute basket weave ceramic planter, a Turkish style hand towel, a necklace and the bottle of whiskey for the hubby!
I swear we walked up and down the stalls all day, back and forth several times! My biggest piece of advice is either grab it when you see it {or see if the shop owner will put it on hold} because things go fast! I have a few regrets of not snagging right when I saw it I am not going to lie! We literally left the fair at closing, 5pm and then took the short drive into the town of Rhinebeck for dinner. We had drinks and apps at the restaurant Terrapin and then hit the road for the long drive home. If you ever get the opportunity of going to one of the Country Living Fairs {they have several throughout the country} I highly recommend going! It is such a fun day full of shopping, live music, good eats and more!
