What a year! The holidays may look different this year…more time at home, no large parties or gatherings…which for me meant KEEP THINGS SIMPLE! Which is exactly what I did this year in terms of holiday decor! Every year, I spend way too much time decking the halls and not enough time enjoy the holiday season. A few simple holiday touches here and there, and of course our tree, and our home is ready for the holiday season!
Come on in! I skipped the garland this year around our front doors. Honestly, it ends up falling down numerous times every year. Instead, I added winter wreaths I picked up from our local grocery store {secured with Command hooks}, pretty velvet ribbon and then a single brass bell to the center of each wreath.
For our planters, I had Prep Your Step come over and work her magic and she truly amazed me! I love the different types of greenery she added, such as magnolia and the blue cypress to match the ribbon the wreaths. The best part…these will last all winter! See this blog post for some simple tips on creating your own winter planters.
In our breakfast room, I added this beautiful winter centerpiece from Lynch Creek Farm to the center of our table. I love the white cement bowl I put it in. It added height to the centerpiece and looks simple and pretty on our white table. At night, I love turning the battery operated candle on. The glow is so pretty at night. Perfect for the holiday season!
Every year, I added a faux wreath above our oven in the kitchen. It is the simple, holiday touch our kitchen needs. PS: I do take it down when cooking! I also added a small potted flocked faux tree to our countertop and you can never have enough holiday candles laying around. Bring on the scents of the season!
Here is a view from our family room. Again, I added small touches of the season here and there with a flocked tree and wood bell added to our coffee table tray.
Here is our tree in all its glory! Honestly, this year I kept the theme of simplicity going and did not put every single ornament on the tree! My kids may have been a little sad as our tree is a collection of family ornaments throughout the year but I love the way it looks. I did get a new tree topper, a white washed wood star.
The chicken coop even got festive with a pretty winter wreath! The chicks even experienced their first snow!
‘Tis the season for enjoying all the holidays have to offer! Happy holidays and Merry Christmas!!!
