Can y’all believe Halloween is a week away? I feel like October has just flown by! Well, the kids and hubby broke me down this year and I actually decorated for Halloween. I know, what?? Usually I decorate for the season and add fall touches here and there but honestly I had fun with this AND the kids LOVED it! I surprised them one morning by decorating our fireplace and mantle one night! You know me, I still kept things sweet and simple while keeping with our decor AND I kept it spooky enough for the kids to have fun with it! Here is our Halloween mantle…
I kept it all pretty neutral with the black, gray and white {all are Target finds from this year!} and added in fun elements like the skeleton head and bats.
I was even able to keep up our gray candlesticks and white tobacco basket and honestly just decorated around them! I think that is one thing that always deters me from decorating…having to take down and store my everyday decor. Working with it and around it makes it much easier!
The gauzy fabric was super easy to work with and only a few dollars at Target! I was able to simply drape it across my mantle and used the props to hold it all in place. It comes in a few different colors but I loved the gray. It was a nice “pop” against our white fireplace.
And oh, the bats!!! I honestly tried to buy these last year in Michaels. They are the bat silhouettes by Martha Stewart and they are always sold out. I was able to snag them early enough AND on sale. They were sooo easy to put up and have honestly stayed in place. Not one has fallen down. I am impressed! And they add a fun touch to the whole fireplace. My kids loved them!
I honestly had fun with this and will definitely be doing it again next year. If only to see the big smiles on my sweet kiddos faces! The countdown to Halloween is on in our house!
